Cyber Security Consultant

Location: Hybrid (with travel to Air IT offices and customer sites when required)
Reporting to: Senior Cyber Security Consultant

About the Role

As a Cyber Security Consultant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality cyber security services, supporting businesses across a variety of sectors with security assessments, penetration testing, vulnerability management and compliance-based services.

Working as part of our Cyber Security team, you'll combine technical expertise with excellent communication skills to provide valuable insights and practical recommendations that help our customers improve their security posture.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Cyber Security Consultant, you will:

• Work with customers to define the scope and objectives of security assessments.
• Deliver a range of cyber security services, including:
  • Infrastructure penetration testing
  • Web application penetration testing
  • Vulnerability assessments
  • Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally, providing practical remediation guidance.
• Support pre-sales and post-sales activities where required.
• Collaborate with vendors regarding product updates, bug fixes and technical improvements.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality processes and operational documentation.
• Share knowledge with colleagues, helping to develop technical capability across the team.
• Stay up to date with emerging threats, technologies and industry best practices.
• Maintain compliance with Air IT's Information Security Management System (ISMS) and all relevant security policies.

About You

You'll be a motivated and customer-focused cyber security professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and communicating solutions clearly to a wide range of audiences.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience within IT or Cyber Security.
• Experience delivering either:
  • Infrastructure penetration testing, or
  • Cyber Essentials Plus assessments.
• Industry-recognised certifications such as:
  • CREST Registered Penetration Tester (CRT)
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
  • Cyber Scheme CTSM
  • VA+
  • Or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships from end users to senior stakeholders.
• Good working knowledge of:
  • Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Active Directory
  • TCP/IP, DNS, switching and firewall technologies
  • Virtualisation platforms including Hyper-V and VMware
  • OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
• Experience using vulnerability management tools such as Qualys, Nessus or similar.
• Ability to effectively prioritise and manage your workload.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to commute to an Air IT office as required under our hybrid working model.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Certified Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor.
• Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security or a related discipline.
• Experience carrying out phishing simulations and social engineering assessments.
