About the Role
Air IT Group is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Engineer to join our Service team. This is a hands-on role supporting customers across the UK South Region, providing onsite technical assistance, infrastructure support, and service request fulfilment.
As the face of Air IT Group on customer sites, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience, resolving technical issues, installing and maintaining IT infrastructure, and supporting our Service Desk teams with onsite technical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide onsite break-fix support for hardware, software, and infrastructure issues.
· Carry out installations, hardware replacements, office moves, and other service requests.
· Act as a trusted technical contact for customers, delivering clear communication and excellent service during site visits.
· Provide remote hands support for Service Desk teams, including cabling, server reboots, equipment installations, patching, and device deployments.
· Support and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, and Microsoft 365 environments.
· Install and maintain network and server infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and rack-mounted servers.
· Assist with customer onboarding projects, hardware refresh programmes, and infrastructure changes.
· Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset records, and service tickets.
· Manage your workload effectively to meet customer commitments, SLA targets, and travel schedules.
· Provide remote support when not attending customer sites and be available for urgent onsite requirements when necessary.
Skills and Experience
Essential
· Experience in a customer-facing IT support role, ideally within an MSP environment.
· Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
· Experience diagnosing and repairing PCs, laptops, printers, and related hardware.
· Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
· Hands-on experience with network technologies such as Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti, Sophos, or Fortinet.
· Experience working with physical server infrastructure, including rack mounting, cabling, and hardware maintenance.
· Basic understanding of virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
· Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
· Structured cabling experience, including patching, labelling, and testing.
· Mobile device support (iOS and Android).
· Experience using ConnectWise.
· Exposure to ITIL-aligned service delivery.
· Understanding of cyber security principles and physical security best practices.
· Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Fundamentals.
