General Summary: As an IT Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing clients’ IT strategies by collaborating with consultants, leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver strategic business outcomes. You will take ownership of developing comprehensive IT roadmaps, guiding clients through technology transformations, and ensuring technology initiatives align with business goals. Acting as an IT director on a fractional basis, you will oversee IT governance, risk management, and compliance, helping organisations manage regulatory requirements and mitigate potential risks. In addition to assessing current technologies and identifying areas for improvement, you will recommend innovative, tailored solutions that drive operational excellence. Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills, a thorough understanding of emerging technologies, and the ability to build trusted relationships that deliver meaningful business outcomes for a diverse range of clients.

You will work closely with clients to understand their business needs and design and implement strategic IT solutions to meet their requirements. Your technical expertise, combined with your ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex IT issues, will ensure the smooth operation and optimisation of our clients' IT infrastructure. This role requires a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic technology advisor to clients, aligning IT initiatives with business goals and ensuring technology investments deliver measurable value.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive IT roadmaps and strategies, adjusting plans according to evolving business requirements and emerging technologies.
  • Guide clients on IT governance, compliance, and risk management, ensuring all solutions meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Oversee IT budgeting and resource allocation, helping clients optimise expenditure while maximising efficiency and innovation.
  • Facilitate regular technology reviews and business impact assessments, recommending enhancements and new solutions to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for strategic IT matters and ensuring clear communication of project status and technology recommendations.
  • Lead the development, implementation and testing programmes of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Incident Response plans, ensuring clients are prepared for and resilient to potential disruptions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT operations and performance, collaborating with internal and client teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Shape and guide the development of IT systems, architectures, platforms, and processes that address both current and future organisational needs, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and security from a strategic perspective.
  • Oversee and advise on IT projects, offering high-level strategic direction from initiation through to completion, supporting alignment with business objectives, budget expectations, and quality standards. Collaborate with senior leaders and other Air IT teams to define priorities, monitor progress, and provide strategic insight for proactive risk management and optimal outcomes.
  • Acting as a fractional IT Consultant for our Strategic Engagement clients for our vCIO clients, you will undertake both one-off and ongoing strategic work for clients. This includes advising on technology investments, regularly reviewing IT capabilities, and ensuring IT initiatives remain aligned with overall business objectives. By staying proactive, you will help clients continually refine their IT strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Lead the creation and continual enhancement of IT strategic plans, roadmaps, policies, and standards that advance the overall business strategy. Ensure that all approaches remain aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, delivering long-term value and resilience to the organisation.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, such as executives, department managers, and end-users. Working with the Account Manager help present IT strategies, project updates, and performance metrics to senior management, highlighting the business value and impact of IT initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and a point of contact for IT-related matters. Regularly communicate project updates, service improvements, and technology recommendations to clients. Collaborate with internal teams, including account managers and sales teams, to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Develop, implement and test Business Continuity and Disaster recovery procedures and plans. Working with all areas of the client’s organisation to provide guidance on RTO’s & RPO’s.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

Essential:

  • GSCE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Relevant IT Qualifications
  • Experience of working for a managed IT service provider in a similar role, or have experience as an IT Manager, Head of IT, or similar.
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure and Office 365 technologies and environments
