Job Title:        Internal IT Manager

Job Purpose:   

As Internal IT Manager you will be responsible for managing our internal IT operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all IT systems and infrastructure. You will lead a team of IT professionals, manage projects, and implement IT policies and strategies that align with our business goals. Additionally, you will be directly involved in the technical aspects of IT operations, providing hands-on support and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the internal IT department.
  • Responsible for ensuring the management of the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices working closely with our compliance and cyber security team in line with company certifications (ISO27001/CE+)
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support to continually develop the team. 
  • Manage IT projects including system upgrades, installations, retirements and migrations, ensuring all internal IT projects and tracked and managed through to completion. 
  • Work alongside group CIO/CISO to develop and execute an IT strategy, focused on improving security, reducing IT systems risk and driving improvements and efficiencies for the group. 
  • Develop, monitor, and report on departmental KPIs to measure and improve performance.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives within the IT department to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address IT needs and requirements of the group. 
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of IT systems, with a key focus on system performance and availability for the group. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements, and feed this into the IT strategy for the group. 
  • To take ownership of the group IT budget, enabling us to plan for expected spend and to gain efficiencies wherever possible.
  • Ensure proper tracking and documentation of all IT assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and manage license renewals and audits.
  • Work with internal compliance and cyber security team to manage the retirement of obsolete or end-of-life IT assets in accordance with our security frameworks.
  • Plan and oversee the procurement of new hardware and software, ensuring alignment with business needs and budget constraints.
  • Manage internal IT vendor relationships and work with the commercial team to ensure we are receiving maximum value from these relationships. 
  • Oversee the licensing and renewal process for software and IT services across the organization, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of IT systems and solutions.
  • To comply with the company’s Business Management System (ISMS) and all relevant policies.
  • Ensure that information security is maintained at all times.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an IT Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and security.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working for an IT Managed Service Provider 
  • Microsoft Azure Active Directory
  • Intune & Conditional Access technologies
  • Microsoft Azure IaaS technologies
  • Mimecast Administration
  • Previous experience in operating an IT function that meets compliance standards and security frameworks such as ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft, PMP)

  • Experience or understanding of an MSP environment.
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team

  • Ability to communicate effectively with users and stake holders from different levels both within and outside of the organisation
  • Able to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage own workload and prioritise tasks efficiently
  • Willing to work out of hours and additional hours where required.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including out of hours and weekend working. 
  • Current and valid driving license and willing to travel to other sites when required.
