Cyber Security Engineer

We’re now looking for Cyber Security Engineer to join our team and help us deliver great results for our clients. 

The Role 

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will support the delivery of Air IT’s security services to our clients.  

You will plan, manage and deploy cyber security projects, ensuring clients are satisfied and their expectations met. 

Keeping up to date with the latest technology developments within the industry, you will work on projects to ensure client requirements and deadlines are met, and that systems have the correct security controls applied. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external IT Teams in managing tools that include UAT, WAF and SIEM technologies, malware prevention and real time metrics reporting
  • Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system users
  • Administrate and Implement policies/rules on SIEM sensors as well as refine security standards
  • Carry out security assessments for clients once qualified such as Cyber Essentials assessments and vulnerability assessments.
  • Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities
  • Identify potential weaknesses and recommend security measures, such as firewalls and encryption and 2FA
  • Manage the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training and phishing campaigns
  • Work with vendors on providing product updates, bug fixes and managing relations
  • To manage your own tickets ensuring detailed and accurate information is being captured aswell as keeping customers updated on a frequent basis
  • To give technical support and advice to our customers

To join us as a Cyber Security Engineer, you will need: 

  • Prior industry experience or relevant degree
  • A keen interest in cyber security; evidence or examples of this will be viewed favourably
  • Experience working with Azure Active Directory or traditional Active Directory services
  • Experience of Microsoft and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of Virtualisation Technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware
  • Good working knowledge of network devices such as firewalls and switches
  • Detailed understanding of common networking concepts and protocols such as:
  • Subnetting, DNS
  • cryptographic technologies and standards
  • VPNs, VLANs, VoIP
  • Web related technologies such as HTTP, JavaScript
  • GSCE Maths and English or equivalent
  • A full valid UK driving license to visit client sites on occasions
  • Commutable to an Air IT Office when required inline with our Hybrid working policy.

Desirable:

  • Industry related certifications in Cyber Security.
  • Knowledge and experience of Cyber Essentials Accreditation, or other information security standards.
  • Usage of Qualys, Nessus or similar vulnerability scanners.
  • Experience in conducting Phishing campaigns

We will invest significantly in your training, with the requirement that you will commit a portion of your own time to successfully achieve the qualification objectives set. 

The ideal candidate should have some prior experience working in cyber security already, however, we also welcome applications if you are an experienced IT professional and looking to move into the cyber security field.
